French retail giant Decathlon has continued its expansion in Asia with the opening of its first flagship store in Taiwan. The company, which it part of the Oxylane Group, has opened an outlet in Nam Theun, Taichung, and is said to be planning a further 62 stores throughout the country. The new store will stock 35,000 products under 20 brands and cover more than 60 different sports.
Decathlon has also announced that it will be building its fourth store in Suzhou in the Jiangsu Province of eastern China. A spokesman for the company said the current Decathlon stores in Suzhou have been well accepted by shoppers and the “active economic atmosphere” in the city warranted more investment which could include a further two or three outlets
Decathlon currently operates 594 stores in 18 countries worldwide, including 39 in China
